Try this approximately 50-kilometer-long cycling loop, which connects the unspoiled nature of the Slavkov Forest with the region’s most beautiful sights. The trip begins in Karlovy Vary, from where you’ll set off along the popular Eger Cycle Trail through the legendary Svatošské Rocks to Loket. Here, right above the river, you’ll be amazed by the majestic Gothic Loket Castle, famous for its Black Tower and rich history linked to Charles IV—it’s definitely worth a thorough tour. From Loket, you’ll continue along the bike path—which follows the route of a former railroad line—to Horní Slavkov, where breathtaking tunnels and viaducts await you in a completely car-free environment. Thanks to the gentle railway gradient, this climb into the heart of the protected landscape area is very pleasant and smooth.
From Slavkov, you’ll then take Bike Route No. 362 to the picturesque town of Bečov nad Teplou, where several exceptional attractions beckon visitors. The absolute highlight is the local castle and chateau, which houses the world-famous and fascinating Reliquary of Saint Maurus. This Romanesque goldsmith’s masterpiece of inestimable value is the second most significant treasure in the Czech Republic after the Crown Jewels. In addition to the chateau, however, Bečov offers other gems—you can take a stroll through the extensive Bečov Botanical Garden, home to the first Czech bioferrata, or visit the Museum of Historic Motorcycles with its collection of unique vintage motorcycles and old bicycles. You’ll eventually return to Karlovy Vary through the Slavkov Forest along bike route No. 2026 past Stanovice, which will ensure the least challenging and safest ride in this direction.
