Along the Eger Bike Trail to See the Sights

1557
Start: Litoměřice33 km

Start your bike trip in Litoměřice, where the Eger and Elbe rivers converge and where Bike Trail No. 6—the Eger Bike Trail—begins. Ride upstream along the Eger River on a newly built section to Terezín, where you can explore the labyrinth of underground tunnels and discover why this fortified town was built. From Terezín, the bike route will take you through Bohušovice nad Ohří to Brozany nad Ohří. Here you can stop at the Brozany Campground for refreshments and, if needed, take advantage of their excellent facilities for cyclists. After a break, you’ll reach the village of Doksany, which is dominated by a sprawling monastery. Continue along the monastery, and after eight kilometers, you’ll reach Budyně nad Ohří. However, you’ll need to exercise extra caution on this stretch, as there is heavier car traffic, especially on the section between Doksany and Písty (about 4 km). In Budyně, the unique water castle is well worth a visit. It was built in the 13th century and is said to hide a treasure of gold. The bike tour will then take you along a quiet forest path to Kostelec nad Ohří, where you should definitely stop at Dvůr Perlová Voda. This renovated farmhouse is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful stops along the entire Eger Cycle Trail, and the local cuisine is so excellent that it boasts two Michelin distinctions. From Kostelec, it’s just a few kilometers to Libochovice, where you’ll end your trip at the local castle with its beautiful garden. The bike trip is about 33 kilometers long, and you can comfortably return to Litoměřice by train.
