Pátek Castle

A Renaissance summer residence on the banks of the Eger River, later modified in the Baroque style and surrounded by farm buildings. From the 12th century, it served as the center of the Strahov Monastery’s estate in northern Bohemia.

Jan of Lobkovic had the original fortress converted into a Renaissance castle between 1544 and 1557. The last Baroque-style reconstruction took place in 1693 under Gundakar of Ditrichštejn. A rectangular building with a jagged segmental gable was constructed.
In 1710, the estate was acquired by the Premonstratensians of Strahov, who owned it until 1945. It then served the needs of the local national committee and an agricultural enterprise.
Listed as a historic monument since 1958.
