Nechranice Reservoir

1557

The Nechranice Reservoir, stretching between Kadaň and Žatec, is a unique engineering marvel boasting the longest earthen dam in Central Europe, measuring an impressive 3,280 meters. This “North Bohemian Riviera” is a renowned center for water sports, particularly windsurfing and sailing, for which the wind conditions here are ideal. The main tourist hub is the village of Vikletice, which offers campsites and sandy beaches, while nature lovers will appreciate the local Bird Area, which serves as an important nesting site for waterfowl. The Eger Cycle Path runs directly along the water’s edge and across the dam, making the reservoir easily accessible to cyclists and offering them unique views of the vast expanse of water.
