Březno Open-Air Archaeological Museum near Louny

1557

The Březno Archaeological Open-Air Museum is a unique open-air museum located at a significant archaeological site, where research led by Associate Professor Ivana Pleinerová has revealed nearly continuous settlement from 5,000 B.C. through the 10th century A.D. Right next to the bike path on the banks of the Eger River, you can admire replicas of structures and dwellings from the Neolithic period, the Iron Age, the Migration Period, and the early Slavic period, which were built based on actual local finds and complemented by period gardens. The site is an ideal destination for families with children, as—in addition to ongoing archaeological experiments—it offers visitors the chance to try their hand at various prehistoric activities, traditional crafts, and flour milling. For cyclists, this fascinating site is a perfectly accessible and barrier-free stop that requires no detour from their route.
