The royal town of Kadaň lies on the left bank of the Eger River. Its late-Gothic fortifications and Renaissance and Gothic town buildings, which were later rebuilt in the Baroque style, are part of the town’s historic preservation zone. Other notable landmarks include the Gothic castle, the Gothic town hall on Mírové Square, the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, and the Franciscan Monastery of the Fourteen Holy Helpers.
