In the 16th century, the medieval royal town of Žatec was one of the largest cities in Bohemia and is inextricably linked to hop cultivation and beer production. Visit the Hop Museum, which, with its 4,000 m² of exhibition space, is one of the largest exhibitions of its kind in the world, as well as the entertaining and educational complex of the Temple of Hops and Beer with the Hop Lighthouse. The town square is adorned by the town hall, the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, and Renaissance townhouses.
