Františkovy Lázně

Františkovy Lázně is located in the Cheb Basin, just a few kilometers from the Eger Bike Trail, in the picturesque countryside of western Bohemia, as part of the famous spa triangle listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A visit to Františkovy Lázně is well worth it for the cohesive Classicist architecture of its yellow-and-white colonnades, surrounded by extensive English-style parks. The heart of the spa is the František Spring, featuring an iconic statue of a little boy with a fish, to which a famous legend is attached. The gateway to the town and the source of information on all 20 active mineral springs is the Tourist Information Center on Národní třída. You definitely must visit the Art Nouveau Colonnade of the Salt and Meadow Springs. Other attractions in Františkovy Lázně include the City Museum with its exhibition on the spa tradition and the nearby Soos National Nature Reserve.

Next stages

Cheb – Sokolov – Karlovy Vary

The second section of the Eger Cycle Route starts in Cheb, where you can visit the historic center with its Romanesque castle and legendary Špalíček. The route continues through Kynšperk nad Ohří and Sokolov to Loket, where the unique castle is worth a visit. The destination of this stage is Karlovy Vary.

Karlovy Vary – Klášterec nad Ohří – Kadaň

The third stage can be described as a spa stage. It starts in the largest Czech spa town of Karlovy Vary, leads through Kyselka with its rich spa tradition, and passes through Klášterec nad Ohří with the Evžénie spring. The stage ends in Kadaň.

Kadaň – Žatec – Louny

The fourth section of the Eger Cycle Route begins in Kadaň, from where the route takes you past the Nechranice Dam and on through peaceful countryside dotted with vineyards and orchards. The route continues through Žatec, where the historic center—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—is well worth a visit. The destination is the royal town of Louny, which serves as the gateway to the Bohemian Central Mountains. This stage is 56 km long.

Louny – Libochovice – Litoměřice

The final stage is full of historical monuments. It begins in Louny with the Church of St. Nicholas, leads through Libochovice with its castle, Budyně nad Ohří with its unique water castle, the fortress town of Terezín, and ends in the historic town of Litoměřice, where the Eger River flows into the Elbe.
